Ryan Marlink Obituary

Ryan Marlink, age 32, was welcomed into heaven on May 30, 2026. Born on July 6, 1993, Ryan lived a life marked by adventure, independence, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. After graduating from Hudsonville High School in 2011, he followed his adventurous spirit west to Yosemite National Park, where he spent several meaningful years working and building a life alongside his partner, Jill Maxwell. Together they shared a love of nature and exploration before eventually returning to Michigan and making their home in Portage, where they shared life with Wanda, his beloved cat.

Although Ryan studied computer technology and earned several certifications, his true passion was always found in the outdoors.  He spent the past several years working in landscaping, creating beautiful spaces for others to enjoy, and recently accepted a position with the grounds crew at Yellowstone National Park, a role that reflected his love of the natural world.

Ryan’s life was deeply shaped by the relationships he cherished. He shared an unshakable bond with his twin brother, Jake Marlink. He also shared a lifelong friendship with Dylan Vega, who was like a brother to him, built on loyalty, laughter, and countless shared shenanigans.

Ryan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his mother, Jodie (Robert) Masefield; his twin brother, Jake Marlink; his partner, Jill Maxwell, and the Maxwell family, who welcomed him as one of their own; and his stepbrother, Zach (Jeanie) Williams and family, along with his grandparents, Bob and Elaine Michaels, and Rob (Amanda) Michaels and family.

On his paternal side, he is survived by his father, Rich Marlink; his paternal grandmother, Sylvia Marlink; and the Marlink extended family, along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by him.

Ryan will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his sensitive strength, and his appreciation for the beauty found in the world around him. Whether working outdoors, exploring new places, or spending time with those he loved, Ryan brought warmth, authenticity, and knew how to make people laugh. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will continue to be felt in the stories, memories, and lives of all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Ryan’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, 11:00 AM at Keystone Community Church, 655 Spaulding Ave. SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a care fund established in Ryan’s name through Keystone Community Church to honor Ryan’s spirit in protecting the outdoors, caring for animals, and helping those experiencing homelessness. keystonecc.churchcenter.com/giving
