Sandra K. (Bartelds) Howard

Mrs. Sandra Kay Howard, age 85, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 21, 1939 and was adopted by her devoted parents, John and Jeanette Bartelds.

On September 14, 1962, Sandra married the love of her life, Dewayne Howard. They shared 52 wonderful years together until his passing in September 2014. Sandra was passionate about many things, including camping, coin collecting, traveling, dining out, and, above all, spending time with her cherished pugs.

Sandra is survived by her loving children, Debbie (Jerry) Howard, David (Lisa) Howard, and Rick (Jennifer) Howard; her five grandchildren, Allison (Jake), Brittany (Tony), Adam, Graham, and Christian; and her two great-grandchildren, Milo and Stella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne; her son, Jeff; her parents, John and Jeanette Bartelds; her infant brother Roger, brother Dale Bartelds; her sister-in-law, Cindy Bartelds; and numerous other beloved relatives and friends.

A private service will be held for the immediate family. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Edison Christian Home and Emmanuel Hospice for their compassionate care over the past five years.
