Sara Betty Albert, age 94, of Brookline, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston surrounded by her family.
Sara was born March 10, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Fannie and Alec Steinberg. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1952 with a degree in Education and taught grade school in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Later, she graduated with a Master’s in Printmaking from Western Michigan University and went on to teach art history at Grand Rapids Community College for more than 15 years. She contributed regularly as an art reviewer for The Grand Rapids Press, and worked in the rental sales gallery at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. She was a true artist. She loved museums, sharing humorous stories, flowers, reading The New Yorker, and lived her life to the fullest.
Sara Albert was married to Lee Albert in 1956 (deceased in 1987). She is survived by three children: Laura Albert (Sedona, AZ), Elizabeth Albert (Belmont, MA), and William Albert (Newton, MA). Also, she is survived by four grandchildren: Arjun Albert, Devika Albert, Jeremy Evans, and Rebecca Evans. She was preceded in death by her sister Miriam Steinberg and brother Julius Steinberg.
A graveside service will be held at Oakhill Cemetery at 12pm on Friday, May 3, with Rabbi Albert Lewis officiating.
