Sheila Ann Kooistra

Sheila Ann (Peteham) Kooistra, age 82 of Grand Rapids, peacefully, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Phyllis Peteham and siblings, Terry, Diane and Bill.  

She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey (Missy) Kooistra, Jason Kooistra, and Joellee DesJardin and her beloved grandchildren, Tricia Kooistra, Samantha (Kooistra) Draw, Ben DesJardin, Jack DesJardin, Allison Kooistra, Alexis Higley and Levi Kooistra.

Sheila retired from the US Bankruptcy Court after 20 plus years of service in 2005.  Sheila loved winters in Naples FL, lunching with her Ottawa Hills High School friends, spending time with her grandchildren, caring for her flower gardens and soaking in the summer sun.  Her love was unconditional and enduring, she supported her children and grandchildren in their activities and pursuits.

Per Sheila’s wishes, there will be no memorial service or visitation. Those who wish to memorialize her, please consider donating to the charity of your choosing.

She will be greatly missed.
