Shirley Ann Mowers

Shirley Ann Mowers, age 87, of Kentwood, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. Born on July 9, 1936, in Wyandotte, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Violet Katherine (Meggitt) Gambino. Shirley was a loving wife to K. Ralph Mowers who preceded her in death and a devoted mother to her three children, Phillip Mowers, Lisa (Michael) Underwood, and Kay (Heath) Ponstein who survive her along with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and several other extended family members. When not tending to the family she so loved and adored, Shirley was an avid reader and loved a good movie. Through the years she enjoyed the adventure and relaxation of travel and she was a great bowler, having served on several leagues in her earlier years where she made many friends. A visitation gathering to celebrate Shirley's life will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 with a time of sharing and reflection at 12:30 PM. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
