Shirley Ann Southland

Shirley Ann Southland went home to be with her Lord on December 15, 2021 at the age of 75.  She was born in Long Branch, New Jersey to Arkell and Margaret Cook.  Shirley will be remembered by her husband, Jerry Southland of 50 years, son Brent (Carrie) Southland, and grandchildren, Kennedy, Braden, Ellery and Ashlyn, daughter Diana (Scott) Haid and grandchildren Madison, Brooklyn, Landon and Dawson, son Scott (Cara) Southland and grandchildren Payton and Paige, daughter Amy (Craig) Schroeder and grandchildren Isabelle, Corbin, Colton and Cody, brother John (Janice) Cook.  She was preceded in death by her sister Janet Elder and brother Blair Cook.  Shirley earned a Home Economics degree from MSU, taught middle school Home Economics, was a Girl Scout leader, loved photography, gardening, travel, crafts, sewing and above all, family.  She attended Ada Bible Church.  A memorial service honoring and celebrating her life will be held 11am on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Knapp Street Ada Bible Church, 3869 Knapp St. NE Grand Rapids, MI followed by a luncheon.  The family will greet relatives and friends for visitation on Sunday, December 19, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Focus on the Family, 8605 Explorer Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80902.
