Stephen Lee Pastoor, age 73, passed into the hands of God on August 21. Born May 8, 1950 to the late Hermine (Fischer) and Kenneth Pastoor, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Sandra Pastoor. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bernice Houseward, his family, and his many friends and colleagues.
Steve graduated from Muskegon High School and Lake Superior State College. He spent most of his life involved with golf beginning as a caddie at Muskegon Country Club and ending as club assistant manager, then becoming general manager at Muskegon Elks Country Club, Egypt Valley Country Club and Macatawa Legends Golf Club. He also served on several boards and as an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. In retirement, he turned his expertise and passion into volunteering for the Westminster Downtown Food Pantry.
Steve was wise, intuitive, creative and caring. He loved nature, golfing, reading, traveling and above all else, mentoring and serving others. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 14 at 3pm. Visitation will be at the church from 1:30-2:30pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Downtown Food Pantry.
