Sylvia Mae Couture

Sylvia Mae Couture,79, passed away peacefully in her home in Grand Rapids Michigan on January 28th 2023. She was a constant source of love and support for all around her and will be deeply missed.
Sylvia was so full of life and energy, always moving, often doing a little dance to make us smile. She loved to surround herself with art of all kinds. She was a talented artist and also played the guitar beautifully. She enjoyed all kinds of music and took her kids to their first concerts. She especially loved Bluegrass which reminded her of her childhood in Kentucky. She loved to travel in their motorhome and made many road trips to the Pacific coast. There she would visit her family and tour her favorite beaches, including her most favorite, Pismo Beach. She also enjoyed being on the water and spent many summers canoeing and kayaking the Michigan rivers.

She will be remembered for her creative approach to life, great sense of humor, incredible way with plants and her love of cows. She was an amazing wife and mother, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She met all of life’s challenges with an open heart and an open mind, we were so incredibly lucky to have her in our lives.

Sylvia is survived by her loving family including her husband of 59 years, Larry Couture; and her children John Couture (Krissy), Bill Couture (Stacy), and Eveann Meerhof (Bill) as well as her four grandchildren, Kari, Megan, Hannah and Hunter Couture.

She was predeceased by her mother Hester Cummings and her father Steve Hopper, as well as her brother Chuck Hopper.

Per her wishes, there will be a celebration of her life in the summer of 2023, details yet to be determined.
