Terry Lee Schrock, 85, of Cascade, MI passed away peacefully at home during his sleep, surrounded by his family on Friday, April 11, 2025. Born in Grand Rapids on July 30,1939 to the late Otto and Vera Schrock. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Pat Schrock, children John Schrock, Jodie Southwell, Sue (Mark) Flanagan, grandchildren Tommy (Chloe) Southwell, Charlie Southwell, Sadie Southwell, Ryan Flanagan, Kelsey Flanagan and Allyssa Flanagan. Brother Roger Schrock and niece and nephews Mark (Martha) Schrock, Kevin (Debbie) Schrock, Kim (Joe) Perrin, Tammy Schrock and Robyn (Lynn) Schrock.
Terry grew up in Wyoming, MI and graduated from Wyoming Park High School, where he played tennis, was a Junior Assistant Scout Master and played the clarinet. He enlisted in the Navy, serving as a First-Class Sonar Technician aboard a destroyer that operated in the Mediterranean. Terry dedicated four years of active duty to the Navy, followed by two years in the Naval Reserves. His time in the Navy instilled a lifetime passion for sailing. Upon leaving the Navy, Terry joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, where he spent seventeen years. After leaving Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Terry branched out with a partner to form Arms Malcolm Insurance Agency, which was sold upon retiring at age 73.
Terry and Pat loved to sail and boat together exploring the Great Lakes. In addition to boating adventures, Terry taught his children how to water ski and sail on beloved Little Field Lake at the family cottage. Terry loved to play golf, travel the United States and abroad and spend time visiting extended family and their beloved grandchildren. Terry was a man of faith and believed in giving back to his community and volunteering his time. He helped build the South Al-Anon chapter where he organized and developed the program for young children living with family alcoholism. Additionally, he volunteered at Feeding America and was active in his church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be deeply missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Robert of Newminster Parish, 6477 Ada Dr. S.E., Ada, Mi. 49301 with Fr. Logan Weber as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of the following charities: Wounded Warriors, Mel Trotter Mission or Feeding America.
