Thomas Edwin Olson, age 88, of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021 after a brief illness.
Mr. Olson was born in Bellfonte, PA in 1933, the son of Bernice and Edwin Olson. Tom attended Ypsilanti High School, graduating in 1952. In 1954, Collette Sepko of Cleveland, Ohio and Tom were married, remaining devoted to each other for 67 years.
Tom studied engineering at the University of Michigan beginning in 1952. Subsequently, Tom was employed as a draftsman at an Ann Arbor manufacturing company. He remained a dedicated employee at the same firm for his entire career, eventually rising to the position of project engineering manager.
Tom was an avid dog lover, sports fan (especially University of Michigan teams) and car enthusiast. As an engineer, he appreciated all manner of technological innovation, frequently being an early adopter. Tom had a wry sense of humor that delighted his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Collette, daughters Katherine A. Hages of Grand Rapids, MI and Linda Olson Pehlke of Brookline, MA; two grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Hages, of Grand Rapids, MI and Melissa (Jeffrey) Gehl of Elm Grove, WI, and four great-grandchildren, Colette and John Hages and Greta and Simon Gehl. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Skull.
The family held a private memorial to celebrate his life.
