It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thomas Marvin Halbert. "Marve", as he was known, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on December 29, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI, Marve was the beloved son of Lester and Evelyn Halbert. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Patty Halbert, and his siblings Susan Dunham, Terry Halbert, and Nancy Wier.
Marve was a proud graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, Class of 1956. He dedicated his career to PM Engraving, a business he and Patty built from scratch. Marve also served as a Staff Sergeant in the Michigan National Guard for 12 years, demonstrating his commitment to his country.
Marve had a passion for golf, classic cars, and playing his keyboard. He was a kind and generous man who loved to make people laugh. As a member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, Marve was deeply involved in his community.
He is also survived by his niece and goddaughter, Kelly Kowalczyk, his nephew and godson, Marc Audy, his great-niece Audrey Evans, special cousins Elaine and Linda, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, March 17, 2025, at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, with visitation beginning at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church.
