Thora J. White

Thora Jane White of Grand Rapids passed away Saturday July 4, 2020 at the age of 79, after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born on March 11, 1941 in Grand Rapids to the late Thorger and Edith Jorgensen.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years Leslie, sons Scott (Renee) White, Timothy (Wendy) White, grandchildren Adam, Rachel and Olivia, and Sister Marlene Bostwick. 

Thora loved to travel and has taken many cruises to Europe, the Caribbean and Hawaii. Always a people person, she loved classical music and performed with the Grand Rapids Opera for 12 seasons, was president of the GR Chamber Choir, and choir member at FUMC for many years. She was a 2000+ hour volunteer at Meijer Garden and Sculptor Park and a much sought after Tram Narrator. She worked many years in the medical insurance field and also as a medical secretary. Since moving to Clark Retirement Community she has been a member of the Foundation Board and various other volunteer positions.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday July 10, 2020 at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Thora may be made to the Clark Benevolent Fund.
