I was sorry to hear of Andy's passing. I know, from experience in our family, the terrible burden mental illness places on family but especially on the family member personally dealing with it.
Andy was a cheerful, helpful high school student in the Character School while I was working there. He was truly a good soul

Dear Nancy and Don and Family,
Our sincerest condolences on the loss of your son, Robert. Although we did not know Robert, from all we have read about him, it is not surprising that like his parents, he was well liked by others and had many friends. Losing a child to a disease such as mental illness calls our attention to the lack of progress we have made medically to find a cure. Let’s hope it comes soon.

My sincere sympathies to the Lubbers family on the loss of Andy. He was a friend of my kids during their time at GVSU. Andy, my daughter and a mutual friend traveled to Tucson, AZ where I was living in 1997. They stayed with me for several days. I will always remember his bright genuine smile, kind and gentle spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of Robert. It breaks our hearts when death separates us from the ones we love so much especially when they are as young as Robert. The Bible reminds us that God sees our pain and grief and has promised that soon "death will be no more."(Revelation 21:4) He will heal our broken hearts by resurrecting our precious loved ones to life again.(John 5:28,29) Until then I hope the memories of Robert and these promises from God comfort you in the days to come.
